Michigan's Great Southwest Sustainable Business Forum (MGSSBF) 

MGSSBF's Mission is to be an information source, and force, for merging environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and economic strength.

A sustainable business is one that creates profits for its shareholders while protecting the environment and improving the lives for those with whom it interacts. 

The Triple Bottom Line
is the term that Sustainable Businesses use to measure and stay balanced between three areas:

1.  Environment:  Air Quality, Water Quality, Energy Usage, Waste Produced, etc.
2.  Social:  Labor practices, Community Impacts, Human Rights, Product Responsibility, etc.
3.  Economic:  Sales, Profits, Return on Investment, Cash Flow, Jobs Created, etc.

MGSSBF is a 501(c) 3 organization and happily and gratefully accepts donations in support of our sustainability and education efforts. Contributions may be mailed to MGSSBF, PO Box 513, St. Joseph, MI 49085.

Green Drinks at Planks (Rescheduled due to weather) 

Wednesday February 25th 2015 from 5 pm-7 pm 

Join us for Green Drinks with host from Whirlpool and others from around the region for great networking and conversation about all things sustainable, as well as local beer, wine, food specials, and fun. Everyone is welcome. We’ll see you there!

Meijer's Sustainability Journey Lunch & Learn Event

Thursday March 26th, 2015 from 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Speaker: Erik A. Petrovskis, PhD, PE, Meijer’s Director of Environmental Compliance and Sustainability

Meijer is a family-owned company with stores throughout Michigan and the mid-west. Meijer “strives to make green business choices by building safe, energy efficient, environmentally friendly stores, distribution centers, and offices”.

Mr. Petrovskis will provide an overview of Meijer’s sustainability initiatives and the criteria used in the building and remodeling of its stores. Focus will be given to the LEED certified construction techniques used when the local Stevensville Meijer store was built in 2011
